What we treat

  • Runner's knee and IT band pain
  • Ankle sprains and instability
  • Hamstring and calf strains
  • Shoulder injuries from gym and racket sports
  • Shin splints and overuse injuries
  • Return to sport after ligament surgery

Getting the diagnosis right first

Most sports injuries that drag on do so because the wrong thing was treated. Runner’s knee is frequently a hip problem. A recurring hamstring strain is often a lumbar or a load-management problem. Treating the painful site alone gives you three good weeks and then the same injury again.

So we assess the whole chain (how you move, what is weak, what your training load has been doing) before we treat anything.

Return to play, not just pain-free

Being pain-free at rest is a low bar and a common point of reinjury. The rehabilitation runs until the tissue can take what your sport actually demands: sprinting, cutting, landing, overhead loading, whatever applies.

That means measurable criteria rather than a feeling. Hop tests, strength comparisons against the other side, and a graded return to full training that we plan with you.

Who we see

Runners working through the Karura and Ngong Hills routes, five-a-side footballers, rugby players, cyclists, and a large number of people who started lifting in their thirties and picked up a shoulder problem doing it. The principles are the same; the timelines and the demands differ.

Common questions

How soon can I train again?

That depends on the tissue and the injury, and we will give you a realistic range at the first assessment rather than a number you want to hear. Most soft-tissue injuries follow a predictable timeline; we will tell you what yours looks like.

Should I rest completely?

Almost never. Complete rest weakens the tissue you need to load again. The usual answer is modified training: changing what you do, not stopping everything.

Do you work with runners training for a race?

Yes, regularly. If you have a race date, tell us at the first session and we will build the rehabilitation around it, including what to do with your training load in the meantime.

Can you treat me at the pitch or at home?

Home visits are available across Nairobi. For team arrangements, get in touch and we will discuss what works.
