Assessment before adjustment
Not all back pain should be adjusted. Some of it needs strengthening, some needs imaging first, and a small amount needs a doctor rather than either of us. So the first appointment is an assessment: history, movement testing, and screening for the signs that mean something else is going on.
If adjustment is right for you, we explain what we are going to do before we do it. If it is not, we say so and point you to what is.
What treatment involves
Chiropractic adjustment applies a controlled, quick force to a specific joint that is not moving as it should. The aim is to restore normal movement, which usually reduces pain and the muscle guarding that has built up around it.
We combine it with soft-tissue work and a small number of exercises: because a joint that has been stiff for years is being held there by muscles, and adjusting without addressing that means you are back in a fortnight.
Working alongside physiotherapy
Having both under one roof means you are not forced to pick a side. A patient with a stiff mid-back and a weak core can be adjusted and rehabilitated in the same practice, with both practitioners looking at the same notes. Most people do not want a philosophy: they want the pain gone.

Common questions
Chiropractor or physiotherapist: which do I need?
Broadly: chiropractic care focuses on joint movement and adjustment, physiotherapy on rehabilitating the muscles and movement patterns around it. Plenty of problems respond to either, and many do best with both. We assess first and tell you which we think fits, including when the answer is the other one.
Is the cracking sound dangerous?
No. It is gas releasing from the fluid in the joint, the same as cracking a knuckle. It is not bone, and it is not a sign of how effective the adjustment was.
How many visits will I need?
We do not sell long pre-paid packages. Most people notice a change within two or three visits. If you do not, we reassess rather than book you in for another twelve.
Do you do chiropractic home visits?
Adjustment needs a proper treatment table, so chiropractic care is clinic-only. Our physiotherapy and massage services do travel to you.
